What RefSync is built to do

RefSync, at refsync.io, describes itself as “referee scheduling and assignment for youth sports organizations.” Its first phase is built for youth soccer, around the age groups, certification grades and center and assistant roles common in USSF-aligned organizations, and RefSync says it is working toward other sports. Referees set their availability by day, time block or individual date, and confirm or decline assignments from a mobile-optimized view with no app to install.

On its League plan and above, each referee profile holds a certification grade, registration status, age-group eligibility, a comfort level for each role and a travel radius, and RefSync checks eligibility automatically during assignment. Its auto-assist suggests the best-fit referees for each game, and eligible referees can self-assign to games the assignor opens. RefSync calls auto-assist “a recommendation layer, not an autopilot”: the assignor still makes every assignment. A referee’s profile carries across every organization they work for.

Where they overlap

Where they differ

RefSync is built to help decide who should take a game: it knows each referee’s grade, age-group eligibility, comfort level and travel radius, and suggests names from them. Ref Grid leaves that judgment with the assignor. It flags double-booking and shows each official’s preferred days, times and divisions, but checks no certifications and suggests nobody. Where Ref Grid goes further is in reaching officials: it sends by text as well as email, reminds officials before games they accepted, and exports a pay report. RefSync’s website does not describe any of those three.

It warns when an official already has an overlapping game and shows the days, times and divisions each one prefers, but whether someone is ready to center a U14 game is the assignor’s call. RefSync is built to check that for you.
Can Ref Grid suggest which referee to assign?: No. You choose every official yourself from the roster. RefSync’s auto-assist ranks referees for each game on availability, certification, comfort level and distance, and still leaves the final choice to the assignor.
